Introduction - Post #1

Hey y'all, my name is Sophia Renata Galassini and I am a senior at Lawrence University. I am an Art History and Studio Art double major with a focus in medieval history and drawing. This past term I completed my Art History capstone on the Scandinavian influence in the Bayeux Tapestry (a super old and super cool embroidery). This term I am preparing for the studio art senior exhibition where I am drawing lots of Pedrolino with religious implications. I am from Chicago but went to high school in the lovely suburb of Park Ridge. I am currently employed by Bagelicious where I serve as a manager and shift lead but when I am home I work at the Fashion Outlets of Chicago as a sales associate at J.Crew Factory. Hopefully I will not be doing either for much longer. I am incredibly passionate about crochet, ceramics and Formula 1 racing. I love dogs, the White Sox and a good hardboiled egg. I absolutely despise Tom Cruise and I only urge you to ask why if you are prepared for a twenty minute rant.

Some self indulgent fun at the Art Institute of Chicago

This is my final term at Lawrence University and one thing I really would like to do is be more present. For this blog, I intend upon designating a time each day to reflect on things I experience on a day to day basis. I will do so by posting a reel at the end of each week that encompasses my productivity, current projects, etc. I also intend to do daily blog posts with an image from that given day along with a textual component. I already consider this blog to be an extension of my portfolio and I am excited to continue to add to my arsenal of artistic endeavors. I have primarily worked analogue and I look forward to expand into the digitized realm and go out of my comfort zone. Being comfortable with what you do is overrated anyway.

Ciao,

Sophia

  1. It's really cool how you're combining daily reflection with this also being an extension of your portfolio. I'm excited to see what projects you post and how you incorporate the reels of productivity summaries into your project! Looking forward to your posts!

  3. I am interested in the explanation of the hatred of Tom Cruise. This seems like a cool idea and I am excited to see how it goes over the next 10 weeks!
